8 Design trends in 2021
The designers at Atelier C3 design have analysed the next trends for 2021 !
Here they are :
1- Natural fibres
In 2021, natural fibres will be making a strong comeback ! This trend will be reflected in natural-looking fabrics used on sofas, chairs, decorative cushions and so on.
Wool is still going strong, especially in the form of wadding balls used for carpets, rugs, throws and so on. Shades of white and warm grey will be in the spotlight ! We’ll also be seeing the return of woven wallpaper with a natural fibre look. Nature will be out in force !
2- Rustic orange
This warm hue will make its appearance in small touches, such as an accent wall, decorative accessories and clay flower pots. We’ll also notice this colour as an accent in bespoke furniture such as kitchens and bathrooms. A hue that warms up the interior.
3- Antique turquoise
In 2021, greenish turquoise will be all the rage! The darker tones of this colour give a rich, sophisticated look. This colour is magnificent on an accent wall. Use decorative elements to bring this colour into your room, and the result will be magnificent !
4- Large cushions
Sofas with a very relaxed style will be very much in evidence. Very large seats with backs in the shape of huge cushions will be seen more and more in our interiors. Roche Bobois started this new trend a few years ago with a very top-of-the-range model. This style has started to make itself felt in other more affordable boutiques such as La Galerie du meuble, Must and Structube. Here is our favourite value-for-money model, available at Must. ( FAUTEUIL FREE, $549, Must société, Québec) Very comfortable !

5- The softened terrazzo effect
This 2020 trend is repeated in 2021 in a more softened form. It will often be combined with another finish, for example a concrete and terrazo effect porcelain tile. The contrasts will be softer and the granule effect more rounded. It will be used a lot on floors, walls, counters and decorative accessories.
6- Handmade pottery
More and more artisanal ceramics are appearing in Quebec shops. This strong comeback will be seen especially in tableware, baking dishes, mugs, flower pots, etc. Now is the perfect time to add a touch of craftsmanship to your dining room or kitchen !
7- Rattan
Rattan is making a comeback ! In 2021, we’ll be seeing this trend in our star furniture. Unlike the trend of years gone by, where all the furniture was rattan, it will be used in small touches. For example : side tables, bedside tables in the bedroom, kitchen stools.
8- Plants
Plants have always been part of our environment, and they will be more and more so with teleworking. The strong desire to make our interiors lively and pleasant at low cost often translates into a touch of greenery. There are a number of varieties that can be adapted to suit your environment, depending on the amount of light and maintenance you’re prepared to give them !
Here are two key words for the 2021 trends : natural and timeless. Need a designer to help you apply these new trends or for one of your rooms ? Per room package
